January 17, 2012Variable-Frequency Drive Test Now Available
September 1, 2011Ramsay Corporation’s Variable-Frequency Drive Test is the latest offering in a series of prize-winning tests used to measure knowledge and skills for pre-employment and pay-for-skills.
The Variable-Frequency Drive Test contains 40 questions and can be used to evaluate candidates’ understanding of maintenance and troubleshooting of common installations of variable frequency drives in industrial settings. This test is designed to assess candidates in areas of Mechanical and Electrical Motor Theory, VFD Components, Drives and Troubleshooting. The VFD Test will measure the knowledge of a candidate entering a position where they may be responsible for handling the day-to-day issues or long-term maintenance of the VFD installation. This test also covers safe operation of all components and circuits in the entire VFD system.
Employers may gauge the development needs of groups and individuals with this newly-released assessment. Organizations can target training materials to specific needs through the review of employees’ scores for Skills Gap Analysis.
The VFD Test may be used independently or in conjunction with one of Ramsay Corporation’s other maintenance tests in order to provide a more comprehensive determination of job knowledge.

Oiler Assessment
January 6, 2010For assessment of employees where lubrication knowledge and skill is critical, Oiler Form OGT was created. The test contains 60 items covering the following areas: lubrication theory, types of lubricants, lubrication properties and additives, automatic lubrication systems, and applications of lubrication.
Job Safety Test
January 6, 2010Job Safety Test Form JST was recently developed to serve as a safety supplement to many of our off-the-shelf assessments. The test measures knowledge and skill in job safety for various maintenance and production positions. It contains 50 items covering the following areas: climbing safety, rigging safety, machine safety, electrical safety, and miscellaneous safety.
Ironworker Assessment
December 2, 2009Ironworker Form ALI-R is a shortened version (60 items) of Ramsay Corporation Job Skills Ironworker Form ALI, a 120-item test developed in 1993. Two Industrial/Organizational Psychologists selected 60 items (proportionally) from the 120-item Form ALI based on their item statistics. Items on this test cover the following content areas: welding, burning, heat treating, steel, metals and materials; layout, cutting, assembly, fabrication and print reading; rigging and mobile equipment operation; mechanical principles, repair, power transmission and lubrication; and tools, materials, equipment and shop machines.
Combined Basic Skills – Water Treatment Operator
November 6, 2009Assessing basic skills and abilities for Water Treatment Operators has become essential for municipalities and organizations specializing in water treatment. Combined Basic Skills – Water Treatment Operator Form CBS-WTO contains a series of three tests in the areas of reading, arithmetic, and process monitoring and problem solving. The Reading portion of the assessment contains 16 items and has a time limit of 16 minutes. The arithmetic portion of the assessment contains 12 items and has a time limit of 10 minutes. The process monitoring and problem solving portion of the assessment contains 16 items and has a time limit of 18 minutes.
